A Jorney, Not a Destination

The main mistake a young entrepreneur may make is to create a business with a dream of being rich. Although the idea of becoming your own boss and earn tremendous sums in just few years may seem very attractive, however such scenario is for “reality TV shows” rather than real-life stories (with exceptions). ‘For the majority of entrepreneurs it takes 10, 15, and even 20 years or more to build significant net worth.”(S.Spinelli Jr., R.J.Adams Jr., 2012, p.559)

Very often media stresses out the rich lifestyle of entrepreneurs, creating a desire among people to become business owners, however a common belief among successful entrepreneurs is that the journey itself is much more gratifying and gives them supreme ‘energy and fulfillment’(S.Spinelli Jr., R.J. Adams Jr.,2012,p.559). Undeniably being your own (and sometimes other people) boss, do what you like the most, job position security and in some cases fame sound very attractive. However, entrepreneurs state that ‘venture’s appetite for cash, time, attention and energy is far more demanding and difficult’ than it seems. Thus, goals are essential but a goal of becoming filthy rich, alone, will most certainly not have enough strength to lead an entrepreneur to the sufficient results. ’A passion for achieving goals, a relentless competitive spirit, desire to win and a high standard of personal ethics and integrity’ (S. Spinelli Jr., R.J. Adams Jr., 2012,p.564) will lead an entrepreneur to the right direction.

In conclusion, successful entrepreneur ought to try to ‘build a great company: wealth follows that process.’(S.Spinelli Jr., R.J. Adams Jr., 2012, p.565), and those who dream of becoming rich quickly are recommended to buy lottery tickets more often.
